Just got some in stock but the official release is next week. Beautiful looking wing, and looks like it might be just what i was looking for. Higher price point due to new materials, so it is an addition to the line for now and the original Slick is still being stocked and in the lineup.

New Penta TX material for LE and strut is lighter and stiffer than Dacron in the original Slick.

Wingspan slightly longer than the original Slick but the tips also curve in slightly

Looks to have more dihedral and more sweep in the outline

Neoprene cover for the front boom connection

Additional wingtip dump valve

Old 4m listed pump up pressure 7.5psi, new one 8.5psi

New coral color is very nice.

Have the 4 and 5.5m.

Used the 5.5 in 15 to 18knots. Feels very fast and stable. Much stiffer frame than old slick.

Used 4 in 20 to 28knots felt great very stable.

Very tight canopy.

Suspect very similar to latest units but with a boom.

I think the Penta is a good upgrade compared to Dacron. Suspect more durable than the DLab.

Look forward to more sailing. New pumps have a higher PSI gauges.

I'm about to upgrade from my old 5 & 6m Slicks do I stick to same size ? Thinking maybe 4'5 & 6 what's the performance like on the new SLS Slicks compared to the old ones ?

Just ordered the new 5m Slick from Kevin at Sunset to replace my current 5m Slick. I'll probably do the same with the 4m. I basically replaced Echo's with identical size Slicks, and had no regrets, so figured there's no reason to change now. Gonna just keep my current 3m and 6m Slicks for the moment since I don't use them nearly as much as my 4 and 5m, and I'd like to see how these new models perform in the meantime. I've always had a lot of confidence in Ken Winner's design evolution

Is that a windfoil fuselage? Looks like the front wing is really far forward....

Just bought a V2 unit. I had no idea these coming so soon. Ugh. I guess I need to read forums more often. We are on a arms (design) race tear.

I think the roadmap for Duotone is to have a boom wing and a handle wing.... as time progresses, perhaps there will be more and more convergence. As it stands now w/ the Unit v2 and Slick SLS, they are more similar now than they have ever been in the past.

I had a chance to take the 4.0 SLS out today, and there was absolutely nothing that I did not like. My daily driver is the D/LAB 3.5, and I loved the Slick SLS 4.0.

Flags out great, low end is good, has great speed and upwind like the Unit v2. Other mentionables... wingtip catch touchdowns.. the wing hardly moves at all... it's like you hear it but don't feel it. windows are really good too... better than the Unit v2. feels very light and luffing you hardly notice any weight of the boom at all (i'm using carbon).

I am very impressed.

I'm guessing Ken (Winner) specifically chose to alter the shape of the SLS Slick closer to the Unit shape for performance advantages. Otherwise you think he would have just kept the existing Slick profile and just changed the material.

Would you say the SLS Slick is an "exact" match to the equivalent sized Unit except for the boom? Or does it have its own specific profile shape (closer to the Unit shape, but still different)?

I don't think I can answer that definitively yet... only one day out on the SLS 4.0, and I don't have a Unit v2 4.0 in the rotation. It's also been bloody windy here, and yesterday was the first mellow day we've had in two weeks. My initial impression is that the sizes Unit v2 vs Slick SLS are very close, but I need a few more days to ride both.

Looks great. Does it use the same boom from the previous Slicks or do you need to buy a new boom as well.
Thanks

How "Platinum SLS" boom different from "Platinum" boom? Lighter? Smaller diameter?

Website has released the specifications for the slick sls.

www.duotonesports.com/foilwing/wings/slick-sls/

How do the weights compare to the DLAB units? Slick slc 5m = 2.36kg with boom. Loving my 5.5 and 4.

Was out in 8-10knots today sailing. The flat tight canopy creates lots of speed in the light wind, goes up wind so well.

my SLS 4.0 weighs in at 1729g or 3.8lbs without boom... can't remember what my boom weighs, but the Duotone Platinum is ~330g... I have a small diameter DIY boom that is less.

Finally able to show off some footage of the Slick SLS from a couple of weekends ago. Feedback from all levels of riders who demo'd the wings was super positive.
Easiest way to get your head around the wing is to demo for yourself but personally putting the wide range of use and upwind ability of the Unit with a boom for easy handling will appeal to a big part of the market.

Has anyone got any thoughts on jumping the SLS compared to the unit? The unit float time is unbelievable and wondering if that same feeling will be with the new slick?

The stock Unit offers slightly more hang time compared to the slick SLS due to the higher trailing edge tension and slightly reduced tips holding the power and lift longer. The D lab takes this even further.
Despite this I prefer the SLS for freestyle over the unit because of it's smaller profile and slightly more forgiving twist. When you put this with the extra control the boom offers the SLS becomes easier to control and whip around.
In a nutshell the Unit is still king for boosting but the Slick SLS is close but more manageable.
Will.

Interesting. Thanks. By "smaller profile", do you mean that the SLS has a shorter wingspan than the 2022 Unit? Duotone lists the wingspans for the SLS but I can't find them for the 2022 Unit. Debating between the two for my low-wind wing.

Bummer! Now I'm just gonna have to order the 4m and 6m SLS in addition to the 5m, and complete the quiver update sooner rather than later...(but very thankful that Ken has not left us "full boom" wingers in the dust). I've preconditioned the wife for the anticipated upgrade expense but I still feel seriously guilty

My Slicks have been faithful performers but seeing the SLS side by side with the difference in canopy tension and leading edge tube size, and just seeing you handle it on land, I can tell it's gonna be worth the guilt!

I've had the 3.0m Std and 4m Dlab since March and tried the 5m SLS the other day and its a beauty, a bit more refined in its power delivery than the Units which I find a little twitchy in comparison. I didn't measure the span but the 5m felt similar to the 4m Dlab span on the water. Dlab felt like it boosted higher but the SLS wasn't far off. Definite improvement over the old 4.5m Slick I had.

If it had the Unit handles it would be the perfect wing for me but even with the carbon boom it just didn't have the same light weight feel as the Units do. Hopefully try one again when the new carbon boom comes out

How about light wind performance? How the SLS stack up against the others, CWC, Slick, or...

In my world the 7m (Slick) gets used 95% f the time, and I'm always interested in something that can get me up and flying in a little light wind.

Nice upwind run today on the SLS , this thing points so well up wind . Coming back downwind it parked so well above my head with one handed steering.

Got a first "rideable" session on my 5m SLS Slick yesterday (6m and 4m due in this week). Happy with the switch but it always takes me a bit of time to get anything new better dialed in. Sorry about the lens blur in this. Guessing I had a bad sun angle, who knows. Looking forward to more sessions with the other sizes, especially with the new Gong foil goodies shipping pretty soon. My limited perspective is just strapless flat water with lots-a-turning...this was a from-the-boat session
