It's with great sadness I have to announce the death of my son Alex
We were kiting in the harbour at ocean reef WA on Wednesday 15th
I don't have the answers to the main questions that everyone including myself wants to know how and what happened?
All I can say is he was lifted on to the old pier wall and suffered massive head injuries. I can only guess when I say I think he was turning too close to the wall and his kite got snagged then powered up and shot him forward
I would like to thank the guys that came to help me an d my son without you he probably would have died on the wall instead of a hospital bed with his family by his side

Am so sorry for your terrible loss. I hope in time you and your family can repair and reset. RIP a kiteboarder too young to leave us.

You have my and my family's sincere condolences Geordie ???? The first thing I did was show this thread to my 15 year old who kites with me and seems fearless, your sharing may help in saving another life.

This is so terribly sad to hear Geordie, I'm so sorry for your loss. Though I do thankyou for sharing in this time of such grief. I also have a 16 yo that I'll be reminding of the dangers. Though we kitesurfers are all aware, no matter our level of experience, things can spin out of control in an instant. Stay safe all

It totally breaks my heart to read this, as a father of a young son. I can only imagine the pain and grief you and your family must be going through right now. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Much love. The feeling of separation must be hard but I'm sure he's out there looking out for you and waiting to meet you again one day.
