A few minutes of my Downwind run from Snapper to North Burleigh in 25 knots on Sunday I was riding my prone set up Axis 90 , 75 mast , short fuse and 400 rear wing. Duotone 4m & the Fanatic 6-7 great combo & awesome fun. Maxing out at just under 35kph .

Was there much swell on Sunday? How do you manage getting in and out through the shore break with the wind wing and 2x leashes?
I put both leashes on my right ankle , wade out and paddle out lying down . Of course you need to time it but works really well . Coming in very different story , I come in full tilt and pick my line and foil full height until I hit the sand , it gets you very close to the beach and well past the shore break impact zone .I keep the Wing above my head which helps keep you at full mast . Sounds wild but it's not that bad.
I've also started doing this in the ocean when you know you are going to breach at speed throw the wing above your head and pull down on it and you do a little bunny hop and skate through it.

The Naish Wing has 3x velcro straps on handle 1, 4 and 8. You simply pass the paddle through the front handle and velcro loop the shaft at each of these points. You're not holding the paddle so much (not like a boom), as I really just let the wing hand back off my finger tips, so you don't even really notice it is on there to a degree. Great for long sessions or if you're worried about making it back in/home. And of coarse good for a good GoPro mount angle.

Thanks for that Piros. I thought you might do some type of beach start and sail out, but it sounds like you are towing the wing while paddling.
Got the hang of flying now on the foil... feels pretty easy... next session is to start attempting a foil gybe and riding some bumps downwind...
Huge weekend on the wing ding and got to try out a heap of gear , plus new super cool video perspective.
That a trippy camera angle with that 360 camera.
Awesome to see you getting on so much gear. Need to get you flying on some Naish gear at Merimubla.

You are certainly getting some good distance offshore......
Decided to Wing on Narrabeen Lakes. It was super gusty from the west, but also quite fun. While not as impressive as any of what's out there, I did do my first flat-water jumps today 
.

Doing it too easy JB , we had some really nice conditions yesterday 18 -22 kts. I've been working on going straight downwind , which is pretty challenging but starting to get it together . I'm on the Dutone 4m , 6-7 Fanatic and Axis 900.

Nice Free-Winging Piros. So important to get dialed. Angles looked good ??
Thanks JB still haven't got anywhere near your skill set yet but getting there. Lot of consecration and decision making going on , I might go back and do a few paddle downwinds . I think that will help a lot on the wing.

Be about session 8. First few were flat water then a few river downwinders. One successful, one not so due to a sandbar and a broken top plate. Then out into the ocean. Yikes that is harder than I thought. Made 16k and nearly died. Maybe bit off too much!
New aspect to water and foiling and I'm hooked.

Yep that was pretty tough going wasn't it Rich, a couple more knots of wind would have made all the difference.
Great fun though. 
Learning session #8 here on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. No big downwinders like you guys, but still fun. Working on foot switching in order to ride both left foot and right foot forward. My legs really cramp up just riding one stance the entire time. Looking to try my first upwind tacks from toeside to heelside. Anyone here doing those yet?
That's great Dspace nice controlled turns and foiling and good start way more controlled than mine.
Tightlines and Rich nice tacking boys getting it together nicely.
Yah Kent it was brutal, but it so fun. Still annoyed I didn't make it the whole way
Must take your advice and work smarter not harder. Think I ruined myself in the first 20mins!

Hey Kobo, I can't tell if this got answered or not.
In general, the higher aspect the wing, the more efficient it can be (depending on its design). This is a big generalisation as all wings are not equal to start with.
HA.
- Are a little more difficult to use in the fast that they are twitchier, faster to respond and in general do not like going sow. But in saying this they actually are able to go slower than the relative wing in a lower aspect under the feet of a proficient rider (as they are more efficient). But if you make a mistake, get too aggressive, not flow smoothly you do risk stalling, kicking or bucking more than you would on a lower aspect wing.
1250/1650.
- These wings are still the best goto wings for a lot/most people. I am actually really enjoying riding the 1250 at the moment as I like riding fast and having heaps of control. The lower aspect wings can be turned more aggressively, behave themselves in a larger variety of conditions and can handle higher AoA at slower speeds. A large component of your drag equation is built up of the leading edge face area drag (i.e. the wider the wing, the higher the drag is in this part of the equation). Then the Surface area drag comes into play, and so on. SO if you have a wing that is 1000mm wide (wingtip to wingtip) (like the HA) wings, they can have a reasonable amount of drag as opposed to a lower aspect wing that is say 850mm wide (wingtip to wingtip). But then the HA's have less surface drag to lift produced. This can be very confusing and difficult to understand - best to just go ride and try as much as you can.
Ok, got off the question a little there.
I use HA wings for DW'ing, they are better for pumping and getting the most amount of lift from any given situation.
I use the Lower aspect wings for high speeds, bigger surf, and harder turning/surfing.
On average I go faster on the JET 1250, than I do on the HA1400. I find I go about the same speed on the HA1400 & 1800 which is really interesting.
I can lift as early or maybe even earlier on the 1250 then I can on the 1400. But I can lift earlier on the 1400 than I can on the 1800.
The 1800 takes far less energy to stay up and foil bumps (DW'ing) than the 1400. And most definitely the 1250.
I can pump the 1800 much easier than any other wing unless I make a mistake. The 2000 and 2450 are easier to get right but will not go anywhere near as fast. The 1400 pumps really well, but requires a slightly higher cadence and faster speed than the 1800. The HA's have a different technique too.
