I think Snides as Rear Commodore of the club is in the best position to answer this question but the plan was to get the standard Windsurfer LT junior 3/4 school sail rigs as I recall it, unless I am mistaken. As to daggerboards whether these are the school or race versions Snides would be able to advise. The Notice of Race will cover off if there is a junior class.

Sorry for the delay
we have purchased the 3/4 junior sails.
They will be used with the standard board and centreboard.
Our program is aimed at getting existing young sailors involved and not beginners
who haven't any sailing background.
re worlds and what will be allowed?
thats entirely up to Windsurfing Oz association.

Is that course change just to stop me taking the shortcut over Pelican Point?

I like having Addison in a second time, but it does mean doing a "loop" around it. That will be a challenge!

I am looking forward to it ! :-)

Yes Mark designed the change, but not to avert the rulebeaters in the fleet as you suggest. The shortcut was permitted last time you used it for first and fastest. However the real reason according to Mark, for the new course is for a fast reach from Addison across to Quarry over the sandbank avoiding the boat traffic albeit it leaves the spits to port, which is purely coincidental.

Since there is no race this Sunday (due to Australia day weekend) the LT crew at MBSC are planning a twilight race starting at 6 pm this Friday evening at the "twilight start line" at MBSC for the Windsurfer LT's. Further details will be posted shortly including the course details. We hope to finish a long way in front of Snides Farr 36 .....the closest video I could find....she is a very competitive one design (like the LT !) racing yacht in concept....

Another solid 20-22 knot south westerly breeze tested the MBSC windsurfer LT fleet last Sunday. 9 starters lined up for the beach start in front of MBSC to tackle the newly devised SW course. The new course turned out to be fun and challenging with solid upwind legs, fast reaching and square running in confused Swan River sloppy chop.

Clive Swanson took out his second consecutive winners flag and is noticeably overdue in the bar to ring the bell.

New MBSC member Noel Lacey looks like he will be a serious racing contender after a good first up hit out...well done Noel!

RESULTS
1.Clive Swanson
2.Mark Taylor
3.Michael Ingram
4.Peter Schneider
5.Richard Grauaug

2020 Windsurfer LT Nationals Update-MBSC perspective (WA club of the LT and home of 2020 WORLDS)
Congratulations to MBSC Club member Julian Atkinson for his standout effort at the 2020 Windsurfer Nationals held at Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club (BSYC) in Adelaide over the Australia Day Long weekend. Julian won a heat and finished up 4th in the Super Heavy Weight Division...not bad for a newcomer to the Windsurfer Class this season. Another notable result from the Adelaide Nationals was Tim Gourlay (current world champ and occasional visitor to MBSC) who took out the winners trophy in the lightweight division. Congratulations to all the Windsurfer LT sailors who made the trip to the Adelaide Nationals. It is great to see the youth who did so well in the various divisions the results speak for themselves. Also the large womens division too, such diversity. It is a really great class.

Tim Gourlay of WA outstanding overall pentathlon winner, winning Lightweight Course Racing, Marathon as well as Slalom and I believe also the Freestyle. He is a world champion and also Australian champion, which he has been before.

sopyc.com.au/head-coach-report-28-jan-2020/

For those that don't know about the Windsurfer LT. It is based on the original Windsurfer but updated to a modern construction. Nearly all Windsurf manufacturers have agreed to promote the LT as their One Design platform for Windsurfing. In just over a year 4000 boards have been sold worldwide. Denis Jones is Head Coach at SPYC and is well known to MBSC being a long time past member and was one of the people key to the introduction of the LT to MBSC (home of the 2020 Windsurfer Worlds) along with Steve Schneider another LT enthusiast and Rear Commodore at MBSC and windsurfing since the early 1980s. Both of them are also keen foilers as are many others in the LT fleet.

Results of the Twilight race held in 18-26 knots last night on the river at MBSC as far as I can remember:

1. Carl Neirynck
2. Kelvin Ussher
3. Mark Taylor
4. Richard Grauaug
5. Noel Lacey
6. Grant Hymus
7. Sam Cinanni

A few other DNFs and DNS due to highwinds. I should add not sure if I got the order of 6 and 7 correct so let me know if I am mistaken. Sam and Noel showed much improved highwind technique with Sam in particular finding more control using the mast forward track positioning and tightening the strings.

It was a windy race with a Le Mans start off the beach, with many entering the water with much trepidation and with Carl taking an early lead followed by Kelvin and Mark in hot pursuit. A large chop was running across the course due to the ferries in the vicinity. Richard managed to overhaul Mark on the first leg down to Foam buoy but he fell just before Foam buoy so Mark entered back into third place. The order remained the same for the rest of the race including the next beat to Robins and then the powerful downwind sailing across to Nedlands near Pelican Point (from Melville Water) around Inner Dolphin until the final leg to and from Poplar back to the finish upwind. Carl Neirynck the new European member of MBSC is showng a lot of class and near light speed with his excellent technique which leaves others well behind. He used to give tips and advice to many back in the day including Tom Luedecke and Anders Bringdal. Carl is the professor as he came 7th in the Light Heavies in the 1984 Perth worlds, (Bruce Wylie won, Bobby Wilmot second, Anders Bringdal third Patrick Troell 4th..Matt Schweitzer 5th..). After the race we enjoyed a BBQ at the club with gourmet kebabs, salad, potatoes, beer and red wine and much banter about the race and next time. Truly fantastic !

Kai Marns Morris 6th overall (RPYC),
Sam Williams 11th overall (MBSC),
