Long time since I have been on a board but I am down at Safety Bay at the moment and there is not one board out there???
Only a couple of hydrofoilers more towards rockingham beach.
Where is everyone going or is the sport dead over here?

Plenty of sailors out on the river, probably no one out on safety bay owing to the offshore wind. They generally sail out of lions park (shoalwater) in westerly/northerly winds.

The pond has got to the point of filling in where no one wants to sail there anymore.

On a SSW youll find safety bay is still well used by local windsurfers, and blow ins from Perth.

I don't know if it was the wind direction. I only go there for a few weeks every summer, but the number of people windsurfing in the Pond is definitely down on before, and the current state of it probably has little to do with it.

Last summer there were no problems with the water state, but my friend and I were often the only windsurfers out. Even the kiters weren't as bad as they have been in the past with less crazy beginner kooky kiters. Then again, maybe the reduced number of windsurfers made it feel easier?

Even when people were launchy at the boat ramp, there used to be more people in the pond, but it seems like people have given up the sport.

I went to sail in the river a few times just so that there were other people to sail with.

Just head about 1km west of the pond boat ramp, usually a fair few windsurfers launch from Carlisle Street especially on weekends

1. At this time of year tide is low and the sandbar is often impassable, so windsurfers launch from Carlisle St, to the west.
2. most of us stopped sailing at the pond because it was taken over by kiters and became too dangerous.
3. It sounds like the pond is pretty skanky at the moment and that is not very appealing either.
There was a good turnout of windsurfers on the river

I still go there during the week after work, great spot to practice freestyle.
But you're right, not as popular as it used to be, I'm on my own most of the time.
