Hi surfers, is Nudgee beach good for windsurfing please? As photo showed the place.
From Google looks close to the beach, no need long distance walking.
Any comments would be appreciated!

G'day Motsbane. It can be a place to go on a north east wind but it's very tidal. At low tide you have to walk out maybe 200m. I'm not sure but I think it might need to be over around 1.5m to sail in close.

I have also launched from the river in a south east but it's not great due to wind shadows and then your punching into the bay swell.

My favourite Brisbane spot in a North Easter. Close to the city. Easy parking and rigging. You can sail from the beach at high tide but be prepared for a 200m walk in friendly firm sand at low tide. You can tack across to the new airport runway light jetty where there are some great ramps. I use a wave board. The airport heat sink creates it's own wind so it will be 5 knots stronger than the weather bureau reports. Easy and fun. Enjoy

Hi Dr. Gas, thanks for your information!
I surfed there last Friday afternoon lately.
I am wondering where is the new airport runway light jetty? Can I drive to there? Maybe show me on the map or? Appreciate your help!

You have to sail south east along the coast and it's the jetty sticking out from the new runway. You can't drive there.

how was your sail there last week? I am looking forward to getting back there for a sail sometime.

Hi Shannon,
Thanks for your information.
Last Friday's ride was not too bad. It was a after work run. Because forecast said the wind was not bad compared with weekend.
I was not happy about my performance.
As you suggested, I went at high tide. There were a few fishers. When I got there, they were left. There is a ramp there , good! A concret platform is also handy for rigging and derigging, no sand stick on gears.
Feel like the bank are sand and mud.
It was late, sunset soon, so I didn't stay long.

Thanks anyway!

Tom

I had a pretty good arvo at nudgee this arvo. The wind really came in about 430! Only one other sail and a kite out there today!

Yeah that's about it I reckon. When it's high tide it can get smooth isn in the shallows.

Yesterday had a run. Good tide. It was good for an experienced surfer. Overpower for me.

Just realise Brisbane City Council is not good as Moreton Bay City Council. Driving to Nudgee is so dust.
Many road sides are not well sealed.

Also lots of the parks at Brisbane City Council do not have loo. I don't mean Nudgee beach.
