There IS an app for that..
iUP is a hydrofoil that adapts to the rider's behavior and positioning to optimize the glide across the water.

I am busting to try a "Hydrofoil Equipped With Artificial Intelligence"

"Artificial Intelligence" is the usual silly advertisement catch phrase but from the description it looks like Taaroa is providing an automatic control of the foil ... that is new for a surf/sup/wind foil but there are numerous examples for foil sailboats!

"Inspired by drone technology and aeronautics, the iUP integrates an onboard computer with control software, various sensors and wing flaps to control the rider's balance. This architecture enables an active control of the dynamics of the foil and height above water, thanks to the moving flaps."

Hi guys - yes artificial intelligence is an abstract notion; especially when it comes to a foil...

Why did we pick that name?

In the foil, there is an onboard computer with a control software that helps stabilize the board by activating the flaps (up or down), according to data that it receives from various sensors. That said, we have also configured the control software to be able to tune its settings based on issues or improvements that riders choose (or not) to communicate with the team through the configuration App. In that sense, it is defined as "AI" more than "autopilot" as it can be crowd-trained for continuous development.

About the other comment, yes active control technology applies to sailboats as well. However we have designed a brand new architecture as it had to be smaller and should integrate height and depth sensors to enable an active height control of the foil (that can be disabled if you want to control the foil yourself).

I hope it helps, feel free to apply to our development program if you want to get your hands on that foil and participate in that journey with us :)

Benjamin Tillier is involved with Taaroa which makes this legit. Mentor to the Goyard Bros. the next phase in foiling?
Wind Foiling pioneer.

Or he's in on the joke. Nice first post by the way...

Elaborate April fools joke, or legit attempt to bring easy foiling to the masses? Its one of those ones where it doesn't quite sound right given what theyve said and presented about it.

i dunno, the whole thing sounds a bit rich to me. And the timing? Well...

yes, nice first post.
lol Benjamin Tillier makes it legit ! He's the one that got me to buy a pinkie NP, so he's good at jokes !!!

as for the iUP, the taaroa boss Martin Turbil did confirm the project on the french forum, I don't see much future in it, especially when batteries are involved ! (imagine loosing power out at sea with the bloody thing set to full lift or the opposite !)

at least it brought two new members to seabreeze !!!
