My local shopping centre had a shark display from the Sydney museum. So had to get there to check a 2 metre Bull shark to find out if it was the size of shark that could fit the front of my foot in its mouth & leave around 3 to 4 puncture wounds that I remembered seeing before getting covered in blood. Also checked the length from its jaws to its dorsal fin that may have damaged the underside of my short board I was sitting on.
Looks to be around that size or maybe 1 foot smaller.
The other culprit could have been a Bronze Whaler I think?

Wow i must have missed that post.

Seajuice is there a link to the story? Also did the authorities not give you an idea from the bite patten or size?

Glad your all on the mend..

Just an update.
It's been just over 6 weeks since the shark attack. And now have had the second cast off & a support boot provided.
Still cannot walk without crutches but happy I can stand up in the shower & wash my foot. But still a hassle stepping in & out of it in pain.
Not happy that I cannot carry a SUP to the water & stand on it.
But happy my foot is healing with movement to toes & foot.
So hoping future rehab gets me back on the water soon. Guessing maybe another 3 weeks.

Hey Seajuice, see if you can find some high potency Colostrum cream for the scarring. Stemcell grade if possible. It will heal it faster and leave the scar supple and reduced .

Must be pretty wild to look down and think
"that was inside the mouth of a Bull Shark!"
Looks like he just about took it off!

once you foot is allowed to be used, it should gain function pretty quickly. Body parts like to be used.

Heal well and quickly!

10 weeks since the shark bite. Able to walk without crutches but foot still swells up.
Also am able to walk to the water with my SUP & go for a paddle. But not yet ready to surf until I can do some single foot toe raises. And don't want to jump off in shallow water & jar my foot.
Bit shouldn't be too long before getting on a wave.
Also a shark was caught close to where I got attacked. I spoke to the guy who took a photo of it & his guess is that the shark was anywhere from 7 to 9ft long.
I am guessing it was about 7ft long. It was filleted & the head & guts was left on the beach. The guts was around 6 foot long going by the photographer.
It looks like a Bronze Whaler to me. But not exactly sure.

Awesome to see that you're back out on the pond mate, very lucky to still have your foot by the looks of it.
It took me 3 and a half weeks after I ripped the end of a digit off to get back out there. And 20 minutes of wobbling around sweating on it to push it to the back of my mind.
You'll be rippin' again in no time......

Thanks Brenno. Good that you are on the mend & back in the water. I think I will have some moments expecting another yank on the leg. Haaa! But not if I can help it.

Funny! (Gorey!) Glad you can laugh about it. Where do you surf - so I know not to go there... Maybe you should wear chain mail booties!

Haa! Thanks Ninjatuna. The beach video of the attack is very similar to what happened to me.
Similar conditions & water colour too. I wonder who took the footage?
Tried my first waves a few days ago. My foot still lacks strength & flexibility and the swelling is annoying. But ok in the cool water for a 2 hour session.
Nice to be getting back. But I think it will still be another couple of months yet to be back to normal.

Thanks surfinJ & Creeky. Feels so good to be back. Had another session today in perfect weather. I'm basically learning all over again. Amazing how much strength & flexibility I've lost in my foot.
I'm surfing very tentative in case I do any further damage.
But each week there is improvement so I am stoked to be able to ride again. Yay! Love it!
