My personal opinion the weight limit on the 980 is sub 90kg BUT another mate at 6-2 , 92kg is riding really well on it but you can see him collapse it every now and then. For its the size it has a truck load of lift. The 1210 is next out and I guessing but definitely better for the guys in the 90 keg club.
My mate has one and we both ride the 1300 , the difference is insane , his pump speed is just so high and it's just so fast . He pumps around effortlessly doing circles around the pack , pretty amazing to watch. Couple of guys have been using the 980 on the wing ding , no one can get close to them for speed. My mate can also dock start it he's 85kg and just ordered the 780 . These things work amazingly well the only con compared to the 1300 is the 1300 does have a slightly lower stall speed but given it's got so much more wing area you'd expect that. The new tail wing that comes with the 980 bis insane one of the best tails I've seen .
So if I want it for a surf wing and I'm 185 #'s / 83 kg, Is the 980 going to be to big? That sounds ridiculous to say. I want to be able to do turns in the pocket on a prone 4'8".
What about the flex ?
I checked the carbon mast/fus and it looks super flex, way flexier than my Signature 165.
Is 98 kg gonna be too heavy for the 980? I'm on the 1600 LOL right now, but unless i use the biggest shim it feels like too much lift most of the time.
There is a 1200 coming up so probably better for you.

No the 980 will be spot on for you.

The Ali mast is much stiffer but with the carbon yes it does flex but because it's tapered ( Wider at top narrower at fuse end ) the flex is down low where you want it and not a base connection to your board . I find the same on my Cloud 9 Carbon mast the flex down low feels good in turns , it's a controlled flex like the tip of a surf fin. If you don't like the flex just stick the the Ali mast it's way cheaper and not that much heavier plus the fuse comes off making it much better to travel , it will all fit in your suit case . The original Ali mast & fuse is compatible with the new wings .
Any reason to keep your old LOL wings around once you have a Kujira?
I out injured so haven't stood on the Kujira but going on my mates reviews the Kujira is a better pumper for sure compared to the F32 & 1300 but the surfing ability of the F32 is really hard to beat . Re the 1300 it's still the easiest surf wing to ride the 980 is the next step up but if you drop down it's easier to pull the 1300 out of the hole compared to the 980 . If you are on your pump game the 980 wins all day . Easy to make a mistake on the 980 where as the 1300 it can let go but you can catch it . The Kujira tail on the 1300 will also be an improvement, so would I get rid of the 1300 for the 980 no , just add it to the quiver .

Thanks Piros, that all makes sense based on the differences between higher vs lower aspect foils as far as performance and handing goes,The 1300 sounds like it has bridged the "gap" the most atm,to try and get the best of both worlds.

I am curious how the lift and roll stability feels compared to other wings (saying it's good for a certain board type or body weight leaves me with more questions than answers). Lift on the higher aspect wings seems hard to quantify or the stated area feels way different than low aspect wings I have flown.
How about Axis 900? or the original NP wings? or the gofoil kai? Looking for a baseline to get an idea of how the 980 will feel.
or to be very specific looking for a wing that can handle overhead surf and 90kg.

What alu mast you guys has tried ? Seems that there is a new fuselage (kind of long actually, too long for surfing ??) and new alu mast.
Hard to believe they need a longer fuselage. Maybe its meant for their efoils? Is there pictures somewhere?

It is not a longer than their previous fus, I noticed it is longer than other brand : for example it is (fus +wing) = 72.5cm for Kujira 980 when it is 68 cm for Signature albatros 165.
I kind of assume the answer is no but........ My question is: Can you compare apples to apples in regards to manufacturers stated fuselage length? While they may be measuring the actual length of the fuse- methods of attachment are different so.... the same length fuse could well have a different actual distance between the front/back wing... from say the distance between the leading edge of the front wing and leading edge of the stab.

Hopefully be able to answer all the questions in a day or so , the entire Gold Coast shipment seems to be stuck on the dock last 1.5 weeks . I have been borrowing my mates 980 plus been towing on it with him. Both of us already have the carbon mast for our LOL's so the 980 goes straight on. I have a 980 & 1210 + 80 Ali mast on order ( don't know if ali fuse is longer but doubt it ). Re comparison of the 980 to the uni 170 pretty similar in pump but the 980 surfs more like the Uni 150 but still carries a heavier rider , just my opinion don't take it's as gospel.
So been hearing whispers about the Kujira needs shim at the mast to the board and now Takuma are producing the shims. According to Cyril " The angle at the board is better with a shim . You can find a more active angle. " I thought is was fine flat , I can't pump the 980 as well as the 1300 but other riders who were the same that have shimmed the 980 are now pumping way better , I let you know as soon as I get mine.
The pic is the Takuma shim , just to be clear they are shimming the mast angle to the board , not the wings themselves. I'd probably call it a wedge to avoid the confusion.

I compared all the fuselages they are exactly same length . The new tail is apx same size as the original small rear , no new large rear . Wing span on the 980 is 800mm , 1210 is 935 & the 1440 is 1085 wide .The 1440 is a more of a M shape plus the end tips face down not up like the 980 & 1210 . Here is a pic comparison of the LOL & Kujira's .

When I was talking about the fuselage lenght I was comparing to others brands (not old vs new fus).
Wonder if the reverse tips on the 1440 has to do with It's width and the tips blowing out in a turn, and controlling that.....just guessing
There is a lot going on in the 1400 hard to show in a pic , the original 1600 set had large turned UP front tips and large turned down rear tips . Now the 1400 front is only small tips up and only very small turned down tips on a much flatter and smaller rear.
Whoa... that 980 looks micro! Everything I hear is it has shocking lift for it's size.... do you sus the 980 as a daily driver for prone and the 1210 for groveling?
