I recieved a call (call withheld number)from the waterways asking if I'm the owner of "Little lady" My Swanson Dart 22. I said yes...has something happened?(fearing the worst) I was asked is she on a mooring or anchored?
I replied It's a make shift mooring. 110 Kg tractor weight which I can easily pull up and remove once my mooring allocation has been consented. He replied You must anchor your boat.Non registered moorings are not allowed.
I replied well its not a fixed mooring which in my opinion shouldn't be an issue. I would rather that than an anchor.
Bottom line ... this was an argument I wasn't going to win. Lay anchor or cop a $260.00 fine. End of story.
Most disappointed. Not sure what to do. I really don't trust anchors. "Little lady" is lucky to weigh 800kgs if that.
Any suggestions?
Throw down an oversize Manson Supreme anchor. It will never move.
My dad's 6 tonne Lotus 950 survived a night of 100 knot wind gusts with an undersized Manson 15 pounder.
Throw down a 25 pounder with heavy chain and you've got an instant mooring that will comply with their silly rules.

Get another anchor and 5-10m of heavy chain.
Shackle the second anchor chain onto your normal anchor so you have two anchors in line.
So you are at anchor [ but have 2 anchors down, just don't say there are 2!.]
That should work 
+ the others. You've already got your boat attached to an 'anchor'. Ask the authorities otherwise. If it's a requirement that you can haul up said anchor, tell them you're in the process of replacing the capstan.

Yes...you will catch more bees with honey than vinegar. I didn't get a name or contact number. I was a little p%#$ed off.
The trouble is many people aren't as conscientious as you windancer, and might likely just abandon the temporary mooring if it all gets too hard to retrieve, leaving a nightmare for subsequent boaters trying to anchor there.
An oversized anchor is the way to go

Nah, there's enough hard to see hazards like crab pots floating around ready to ruin someone's day than having people reserving their favourite anchoring spot.
if you don't want to spend money on an oversized temporary anchor, that's understandable, you'll only have to try to sell soon anyway, and don't have the onboard storage room for it, invest in Rocna 6 or equivalent with a couple of metres of 10mm chain(that you can remove later) then 20 metres of 6mm high strength chain then 20metres of 12mm nylon as a minimum, set the anchor properly....all good in that location.
Your going to need the anchor anyway which is at the top of the safety equipment list.

The other issue is that I use my kayak to paddle out on her.I use the mooring buoy to tie off the kayak. It's obviously not going to be towed behind a daysailer whilst sailing so now I have no where to tie off onto. Which means the only other alternative is to get a small weight or anchor for the kayak or tow it to a public mooring and leave it there.
Getting a little hard after all the effort I have gone through.
Mooring applications are also a catch 22. You can't apply for one unless you have a boat and and you need a mooring if already have a boat. 
On the topic of buoys in Mooloolaba waterways, has anyone applied for a registered mooring through Qld Maritime in the Mooloolaba Pond area, I have a cat I want sit there and wonder if paying the $90 fee to apply will be worthwhile
My understanding is , an anchored boat must by always attended.
You have done the right thing , Bacause you don't have registered mooring , it is stil anchored,
regadles of shape.
Now, I would change the rope in case of inspection, better keep low profile for now.
