I was about to install memory-Map on my new laptop and had a bit of a shock.
When I went onto their site to download the latest version of Navigator it came back with a message saying Memory-Map service was suspended indefinitely due to some contractual problems.
I probably have the installation files somewhere on another PC but I have purchased a few licenses from Memory-Map for both marine charts as well as land based maps and am going to be totally pissed off if IO can't update them from their site.
With Memory-Map, once you buy a license you can bulk download your charts (quite bulky) or just go online and download the charts you need as you need them. It seems this, and just about everything else is now not available.
I'm sure I will find a 'work around' but I should not have to do this after paying good dollars for access to online services.
I have been using Memory-Map for about 12 yrs now and find it a good product it will be a shame if it falls by the wayside like a few other products.
I know I will be very skeptical about paying for chart licenses in the future.
Try memory-map.com which is available. The .au site is showing as no longer providing support but the international site appears fully functional.
FYI, got an e-mail this morning,
Dear Customer, You may have heard a rumor or read on the web that Memory-Map has "suspended services". Please rest assured this is not true. The situation is, we have discontinued working with a certain re-seller, who is now putting out a false message on the Australian website. There are a few maps that we have discontinued selling, and some others that are no longer available for download. However, the Memory-Map online activation services and most maps of Australia are not affected by the change. We have recently released new edition maps for NSW, QLD and TAS, as well as a new edition of the Hema 4WD Maps. We are working on replacements for other maps that may be affected. If you are having problems accessing your purchased maps or software, please contact us via our global support site https://memory-map.com/Support.html. You may be eligible for a free update. The bottom line is Memory-map is fully committed to the Australia/NZ market and we are looking after our customers in the region. Regards,
Richard Stephens
