Taking the family up camping and wondering where are good spots to kite... better to stay on Denham foreshore side or is Monkey Mia ok?

Hi Dave,

Have a look at our location guide www.kitebud.com.au/locations/ which shows the 3 main spots in Shark Bay / Denham

You should know that kiting in the Northern Side of Monkey Mia (in front of the resort) is forbidden. You would be fine if you are on the Eastern side of Monkey Mia as long as you are south of the sand bar.

Monkey Mia is honestly not a great spot as it's full of very sharp shells which can easily rip your kite and your feet. It also only works on Easterly and SE winds which are not the dominant wind directions there.

Get in touch with Damien from Shark Bay Kitesurfing sharkbaykitesurfing.com/ for a small fee he can take you to some remote locations that will blow your mind (if there is wind when you get there)

enjoy

Google maps. Herald Bight. Amazing. Shallow, so only good for TT's, but in the right wind direction it heaven.Same side as Monkey Mia, but have to get in as far as i know through the Francois Perron entrance. Can put it in to Google maps and it will take you straight there, even though it's offroad. Need a 4wd to get in there, but nothing tough. We got a Kia Sportage in and out no worries - had proper 4wd's along in case Kia got stuck.

Knowing that the SW winds are predominant along our coast, that's why I was thinking the Denham side would be better. (Unless of course it's like it's been in Perth for the last week!)

Thanks for the info and the website.
