Thinking of kiting and potentially surfing Fraser - saw a couple of posts from 5 years ago and a few vids on you-tube, actually 2 kite vids, handful of go-pro surf vids, 1000's of 'stuckers' and plenty of sharks in 5m wide gullys before nice shalllow sandbar - question is if you were on Fraser for 3 days of fishing and couldn't give a flyer about fishing would you take the risk and kite/surf? Who's done it?

My mate dangerous dave did it once, doesnt reccomend it. Sharks are practically waiting in a line up there off the coast for anyone to go more than ankle deep. If you do decide to go for it, take some bandaids in your kit. Kite should be ok just dont fall off

It all depends where about you go, Fraser is a big place. If you're talking in the open surf on the eastern side, then good luck with that. When it's blowing the surf is pretty crap anyway, not exactly nice kiting. Near the cape you'll find some sandbars and gutters at different times that can work depending on the wind. Your best bet would be to leave your mates fishing and drive south, grab the barge and kite Inskip.

I've kitesurfed Fraser a few times, Waddy Point is really good anywhere from NW to NE and if it's S-SE then go further north of the point until the wind is more side shore, if your into wave riding and there is a good swell with a SE wind you will get some epic long rides.
But yes there is lots of sharks and I wouldn't even think about surfing there especially this time of the year.
