Hi All,

I'm staying in Port Douglas, and given the lac of wind in town I am thinking of doing the drive up to Point Archer tomorrow.

I'm just wondering, would anyone mind giving me an idea of how to get there. Ive never been that far north before, so have no real idea?

Is it as simple as following the highway and turning onto Archer Point Road?

Looking on google maps and it's hard to tell if there is any specific area that is ok for kiting, or areas that are no go because of crocs or other bad stuff.

Love any information at all, thanks in advance.

Michael

Yep, just follow Archer Point Rd (dirt road) right out to the end till you get to the camping ground....you don't need 4WD

Have another look on google maps, there are a couple of beautiful beaches there. I have a few mates there at the moment having a blast!

If ur worried about crocs,,,,stay out of the water, but with a name like Mick u should be right

You'll see the sign for Point Archer on the right on your way to Cooktown. Put Cooktown into Google maps and about 20 minutes before town you'll see the turn off. It's worth the drive when there's no wind in Port Douglas

Thanks for the info people, spent the last couple of days up there. Wind was a solid 18 knots or so, we at least got some good long sessions on the big kites. A beautiful spot, and Definitely worth the drive.
