Hi all, I'm planning my first ever kite trip to the far north in August. I've heard Archer Point is great but I also hear the camping there has been limited or restricted. Does anyone know how difficult it will be to find a camp spot in August at Archers Point? Any other tips? Maybe other places worth adding to my bucket list?
WOW! That's sad! good to know because I was considering going there but that said Elim Beach isn't the same as Archer Point. Elim beach falls under Hope Vale Shire, Archers Point is Cook Shire I think. Different rules apply, Hope Vale is a dry community but Cook Shire isn't for example. Also, there is a kite surfari happening at Elim Beach, just north of Elim Beach Campground but I assume they have an exemption.
So back to my question, what about Archer Point camping? Or any place up north where I will get good wind in August and won't be eaten by crocs. All advice appreciated! What about Palm Cove or Port Douglas?
Got a few mates there now....accommodation is pretty well booked out in croctown till mid august....don't know about the camp ground at archers but they have free camped there for a few nights without an issue....
PD can be a bit hit and miss at that time of year as is palm cove....if you are driving up from seq, they managed to catch some wind at brownsville and blowin bowen on the way up....
Cheers and good winds!!
