The direction/position of this cam has been altered lately.
Unfortunately this slight adjustment hasn't helped us "public beach users"
There is now no view of the beach making it difficult to access conditions.
If anyone has any contacts to rectify this issue please do so and become a hero in the public community.
I will endeavour to make some calls soon if it seems no one has any contacts in the DPTI.
Pete.

This seems to happen from time to time, but try the contact in this very old post.

Thanx coastflyer, your all over it.
I'll start with an email, if that doesn't get a result I'll make a call.
All with my best manners of course.
Thanx again for the details.
Good luck and may you have a few PB's this summer.
Pete.
Noticed the outer harbour webcam has moved and can check the beach now, just in time.
Guys, the camera is now no longer capturing the beach. If anybody has a suitable contact, could you please see if it can be put back to it's normal view?
Yeah I have noticed it has been moved again.
There are obviously have no set parameters for the camera angle so it's just random to whatever whenever whoever.
Very frustrating as I thought the message about the preferred angle was discussed and set.
It could be a change of personal.
I will try to get it changed.

Yeah, agree, frustrating! I sent a email to the contact that I had before, Geoff Smith, and it bounced back, so maybe he has moved on. Hopefully, you will have more luck.
We used to have a contact in the tower.. Kiter Ben?? Haven't seen him in a long time though.
Just an update on this cam. I spoke to Ben, who still kites, and like a lot of us, doesn't get out as often as one would like! The signal tower is now un-manned, so I guess not as easy to get things done on the webcam, as possibly before. He is going to try and talk to the right people and see whether it can be aimed to the previous position, so as part of North Haven beach is shown as well. Apparently, it's a very popular camera because of big ships coming and going, as well as for the water sport users, like us. Many years ago, I put a camera up at my local surf club, which is Seacliff. Over time, it has been pretty good, but suffers from poor broadband at the club. The current cam is a temporary analogue one because the normal HD digital failed, but hopefully will be replaced soon. It's getting over 4000 hits a month, so has been great for bringing some extra business to the club.

I swear some mofo has just tweaked that cam a little more towards the channel.
I could see actual beach a few days ago and now, the rock wall is now right on the edge of screen with practically no beach showing.
Its not as bad as it could be ie. can still see some water to the left of the wall but Wtf.
Someone with the power to adjust it is not working with us.
