I keep hearing that foil kites are difficult to fly and loop.
Is the Hyperlink v2 a user friendly foil kite coming off tube kites ?
Look forward to the reviews.
I can't comment on the v2, but the v1 is pretty learner friendly. By watching a few clips on setting up, launching, and landing it's not hard to get the hang of things. I had mine up and running within minutes on my first go. There are a few different techniques to employ with redirect in jumping etc, but as far as flying goes it's pretty straight forward. Keeping the bridles tidy is a must and will cause frustration if you don't pack the kite away carefully. If you do then it's reasonably quick to setup. As far as looping goes, I have a12 and am now looping it, (mainly just downloops for now) and am finding where the power is in it's movement through the window. I am using a 50cm bar and could probably use a bigger one to get the kite around quicker. The one issue when flying alone is the self land. I have a rope slider setup and I have to disengage the chicken loop after braking and backstalling the kite to the ground. I then have to reset the loop to hook over the stake and run toward the kite. I will have to think of a better tether setup at my local as this method is not ideal for me.
Received ours. Just weighed the 11m and it came in under 2kg.
Thats light! Here is a chart from the order system which shows shipping weights, which includes the bag and repair kit. Unfortunately my demo did not arrive in Lennox today.
thanks for the idea. Might look into it but I sure love my Ride Engine and won't give that up without a fight. Food for thought though...

My harness setup is like yours, rope slide and directly connected via chicken loop. When the wind is light I'll stall the kite backwards onto the ground, and often it will sit there (I do go out in very light winds). Mostly though I'll either stall backwards to the ground and then flag out to single line, walking as quickly up the flag line as possible to avoid the kite rolling around so much. OR If its too windy to stall backwards safely, I'll fly the kite to the side of the window that has the flag out line on the bottom and with the tip of the kite on the ground I'll flag it out and walk upwind to stop the kite rolling around the lines. Then I secure the kite as in the Ozone video above, then straighten out the kite, open the deflating zip on the back, straighten and check lines are not tangled, then wind up lines to about 4-5m from the speed system and secure kite pigtails/lines at the velcro in the centre of the kite. Then grab the downwind tip of the kite and keeping it low bring it back upwind to the other tip and sand them. Organise bridle inside the 2 halves, remove sand from the tips and begin rolling towards to centre and exhaust flap.
This next bit is important for keeping your leading edge battens in good condition. Fold to kite from the LE towards the TE at approx 1/3rd of the chord, so that when folded the trailing edge is longer. Slide the fold into the bag, using your hand to push the fold to the bottom of the bag. Now you have 30-40cm of TE hanging out of the bag, but the LE batten hoops are sitting nicely uncompressed in the bag. Fold the TE into the bag and leave the lines hanging out of the side of the bag that has the bar holder sleeve. Zip up the bag and push any excess line inside the bag once the bar is in the bar sleeve.
Sometimes I'll rinse the bar afterwards if its very sandy.
...., I'll fly the kite to the side of the window that has the flag out line on the bottom and with the tip of the kite on the ground I'll flag it out and walk upwind to stop the kite rolling around the lines. ...
That's how I used to land my foil kites in the early 2000's. I did more of a slow stall from the side of the window while walking upwind before flagging out. That avoids the plummet of death when stalling from the top of the window. Keeping the flag out line on the ground reduces the kite rising up on the flagout line. I stayed hooked in when doing this.
Other ways of self landing included parking the kite in the lee of a beach shed or bush, or hooking the bridle or brake fan on a shrub.
Had the time and some very light wind to test fly my 13M Hyperlink V2 today. The first thing you notice is the silky smooth feel of the new fabric, and then the weight, it is seriously light. Once I opened it up on the ground 2 things stood out immediately and they are the 2 zips in the front surface (bridle side) either side of dead centre of the kite. These are where you access the lines that collapse the inside of the kite when a 5th line is connected. I will not be using these as I'm only intending to use this kite on the water or on the beach in my buggy.
I did not pre inflate, and yet the kite filled fairly quickly without any issue.
I have no idea why my pics load like this, rotated 90 degrees??? The wind was super light though, no whitecaps.
Everything in that last video can be done and is being done with way cheaper and just as good or even better kites. #hyperwankwank #dontbelievethehype #dontpayforhype #beyourself #beunique
Lets jump off mount inkerman together you on your pansh me on my hyperlink :D hahaha last one to the mount inkerman backpackers is a rotten egg

Hi Fernando
Your claim is just not true. AFAIK there is no other foil kite that is both open cell and closed cell and has an internal collapse system operated by 5th line. The Hyperlink is a very unique kite, and the V2 is an incremental improvement over the V1, especially the cloth and re-ride system and internal structure.
Regards
Steve
Any info on the cell walls/ribs supported unsupported X's connected that skip a wall so its like a piece of string art from a nnsw bush doof ?
There should be a promo photo looking something like this displaying the new structual design for the cell wall/rib braceing :)

Hi Fernando
Your claim is just not true.
I never disputed its features Steve, just the video. Replace/edit the video with most other kites on the market, and hey presto... same actions.

Denial is not a river in Africa Fernando. Which part of "Everything in that last video can be done and is being done with way cheaper and just as good or even better kites." is not disputing its features?
Which foil kite on the market can be converted from open to closed cell? Which other kite on the market with a mid aspect ratio planform, is made with this same lightweight and strong waterproof cloth has an internal 5th line reefing safety system?
If i do something terribly stupid and dangerous on this kite and get like 50 views on youtube do i get some sort of sponsorship? Like a ticket to the wonkey donkey pub trail and a driveway to park in for the evening?
