Anyone tried the ion cbar (fixed hook or slider), either the new model or last years? Thoughts?

Hi Bramber,

We haven't kited with them as yet, but they should "feel" the same as the previous model. Having said that, the new mechanism is really superb and is harder to accidentally release and feels overall better designed and more solid, certainly easier to get into and out of than the previous model. We were so impressed with tham that we ordered a heap of them as sold seperately items for people to upgrade to from most harnesses.

Great product, I've seen many around the traps as I've travelled this year. Another option thats working better for me is the Mystic Stealth bar, but you harness must be able to accept the "wings" (all Mystic harnesses do). I'm fairly sure that any harness that has elasticised belts can accept the stealth bar wings.
The wings add a connection point to the body of the harness on both sides so the spreader bar cannot ride up. Seems to me that if a spreader bar can ride up, then that starts the whole harness moving up.

I'm looking at both those options as an upgrade to my ride engine harness. I'd be interested to hear from someone who's tried both and can offer some kind of comparison. One appealing aspect is to have a harness bar that allows options for both a standard hook and slider bar as I like strapless riding as well as twintipping.

I've currently got the 2020 Mystic Majestic size L and 280mm stealth spreader bar size M combo. Have 2017 RE Carbon with carbon spreader and rope slider size M and a 2018/19 RE Hex core with metal spreader and rope slider double buckles per side size M.
Have ridden the 2 RE harnesses for a couple of hundred hrs each, and actually prefer the old one with the single buckle. The Mystic is a better harness when used with the stealth bars with the side wings, and has far less tendency for the spreader to move upwards.
The current model RE harnesses have no connection between the spreader and the harness body other than the belts that tighten it, and I find the belts loosen a bit and the spreader moves upwards a lot. but the body or back of the harness tends to stay put, and due to the low grip velcro, the belts blow apart when I crash on a wave.
The Mystic is just as well shaped and padded in the body/back of the harness, sides slightly wider but not bothering me, and the spreader bar is firmly held in place by the winds and dual belts per side. The Stealth spreader has 2 rope loops, the centre one I use for my leash, but can also feed the chicken loop through it for a non sliding connection. I removed the stock slider rope and replaced with a piece of 5mm dyneema with 3mm fed inside for back up and extra security and then fitted a Ronstan roller bearing pulley and ring.

The Mystic Majestic 2020 will be available early next year, the stealth bars are available now. The Stealth bar will fit and improve any harness that has elastic belts.
