Hi guys,

just want to get some feedback on the Cabrinha FX 2017 (9m) for a beginner eg kite's upwind ability, relaunch, general progression on this kite as a newbie.

I have a 12m switchblade already so not sure if I should really be sticking with SB for the 9m also?

I have had a few lessons and just getting going upwind, I am 75kgs, have a 137 Tronic and keen to progress eventually in to free ride/freestyle but conscious of getting gear that may hamper my progress early on.

Thanks for any feedback.

I personally found the FX to be a very friendly kite to ride mate. Like all Cabs to be honest. Definetly performs upwind. Relaunch wouldnt be any harder then s switchblade I would guess. think you would be fine but i dont claim to be a cabrinha expert.

Yeah I would tend to agree. It will be great in the future when you want to progress as well.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Sounds positive.

I just read online that they are much harder than the SB to relaunch and I don't want to be battling with my gear any more than I have to while I'm learning.

cheers!

My wife had lessons with a school here who use Fx's, and she was fine.

I went on to Fx's with less than a season under my belt. Still use them, love them, easy to re-launch.

I' not saying they are the best, but for mine, they seem to be as good a choice as anything else I've seen regardless of the stage you are at.

Hey Fentz,

There is a comparison between the FX and Switchblade, it might give you some ideas. The Fx requires more rider input compared to Switchblade, you need to work the kite out more, where with SB, you can park and ride easily. I do ride the both kites currently and find the FX is more forgiven with lighter bar pressure. It really depends what you want to archive, for a beginner the FX is still a good option.

Hey fentz, I think the FX would be fine. As others have said you will need to work the kite a bit more as it doesn't have the same sheet in and go grunt of the switchy.

Ultimately it forces you to be a better kiter imo.

When i was learning on the switchblade and demo'd the FX I didnt like it. It seemed twitchy and gutless. 2 years later I ended up buying a quiver of them.

My progression on the switchblade was probably slower cause i was too scared to unhook and do kiteloops on it unlike the FX.

So you make take an inital step backwards with the FX but you will learn faster on it in the med to long term in my opinion.
