Going camping at Yamba for the next week. Is it any good for kiting around there?

Yes it is, iluka side is good too, really nice NP's camp ground round at woody head. Steer clear of angourie, most territorial surf spot in Northern NSW. You should get a run on the south facing beaches during the week. If the NE happens at the end of the week check out Woody Head.

Not really, you can only launch/land your kite on the surf beach and thats where people kite, the flat water area or Lake Arragan has big wind shadow areas and if you can't re-launch your kite its going straight into the bushes.
