Hi I bought a 16 metre kite for my first go at it. I think I need a smaller or training kite. What's around in Newcastle?
All u need is 30 knot day only pump the kite up 1/2 way means will only have the power of an 8m,
or do the smart thing and get some lessons :-)
You need good advice and instruction ....... first kite 16m??
If you like getting smashed .... continue on your own ...
Yes I need advice. I bought it for the associated gear , not the kite. Just need info on what size to start with
Given that you are responding in a genuine manner means you are not attempting to troll.
A genuine response is thus this:
- kite size depends on your local conditions (bigger kites are usually easier to use as they move slower and make it easier to predict kite reactions - especially when you are learning)
- the make, age and condition of your 16m plus associate gear is also important
If you are asking your original question then there are many factors to consider that we can not answer without more information. However, as the others have stated your best and safest way to start out is to go down to your local kite location, ask questions from those that know what they are doing, learn how to launch and land others kites and observe what they are doing. Show them your gear and get their opinion. Ask them who is the best instructor to get lessons.
Learn the sport safely. not just for your self but for those around you.
Best of luck!
So a lot of smart Alec's on the forum. Only asked a sensible question.
It wasn't sensible

Go to "Kite and SUP" and ask for Dave. He actually gives good lessons and excellent advice,
Using a 16m kite in a few weeks will probably make you a head line.

+1 for the above, launching a 16m kite when you don't know what you're doing WILL get you hurt or killed, no other outcome is likely.
Go get some lessons then ask your instructor for advice and to look over the gear you bought.

Go see Dave at Kite & SUP Warners Bay.
He has lots of suitable gear new and second hand at excellence prices.
Also lots of good advice.
Just noticed Already suggested so must be true
Thanks for the replies. I will do as you've suggested. The kite is all peter Lynn venom 2 and no I didn't want to become headlines. That's why I asked before using the kite.
