I ride a 2010 jaime pro. Looking for some options on a new board. im an intermediate and like the jaime...would just like a board which is a bit smoother if possible with less face spray and comfy bindings. I dont unhook or waveride...mostly freeride with big air and some loops etc.
Just doing the demos of a heap of boards, I had the
xenon infra, crazyfly carbon ltd, Team Series duo tone/ North/ shinn bronq/ nobile carbon, for me the bronq from shinn has been the best by a long way then the TS but slower and with annoying spray off backfoot, the nobile was the split board version ,
The standouts for me is the shinns weight, speed on the water, edge ability, how they turn crap chop into butter, carving,zero spray, they lack a bit of pop compared to some due to flex in the tips and some crew don't like the standard pads, but I've never had issues, plus a no quibble 2 year warranty ,

Sustan take into account Cauncy rides in some of the choppiest stuff you can imagine except on the inside.
Whats your water conditions like ?
Tried a few boards looking for 'do it all' twintip. Used to ride Shinn Dundee until it broke. Could not find another shinn that I liked as much as Dundee (not made anymore).
Ended up with Flysurfer Radical 138x42 (100 kg). Like it even more than my old Dundee. Early planing, nice flex/stiffness balance, easy upwind, great for boosting, and the pads, the pads - super comfy for wide feet, best ever!!!

What version?
I have version 5 - not available anymore. Presume version 6 would not be too far off despite claimed 'technical makeover'

The v6 has the deeper channels as well as the v5's heel side "lip". I had a v3 and loved it, then fell in love with channels (Axis Limited for 4 years) but still think that a straight rail is best.
Thanks for the replies! Im 82kgs and 6ft...i ride mostly inland on dams so its choppy conditions with upto 1.5m "swell/chop"...i also go to cape town or other coastal areas a few times a year to get some big air off the waves. I like the lively feel of the 132 jaime...just cant stand the face spray anymore and my feet come out the straps on big jumps when i start getting tired. Some boards that look interesting and that i can get here are the nobile nhp, crazyfly ltd and bronq/monk. I had a 2010 crazyfly raptor pro...it was ok...carved nicely but not as smooth as the jaime
Btw is it the std pads only on the shinns which are a problem or the pad/strap combo as a whole
Given your water conditions I think the crazyfly Ltd, and the bronq, monk would be your best bet.
I ride the ??2017 NHP nobile carbon version, which is relatively stiff...but has a lot of rocker to compensate, great board on the flat and fun in the waves with the asymmetric sides. The normal version would have more flex, but these boards can be heavy...they a built like truck and never break...the hardware with with plastic top screws however can be a pain ..
But for the conditions you've mentioned I'd reckon the crazyfly pro Ltd would be a very nice option. Heard good things about the 2018 version. My brother rode an earlier version which was also a great board. Not stiff nor straight enough rails for me, but the new one apparently has way more bite, load and pop.
Bronq will offer a little more stiffness over the monk (plus straighter rails, )and would be great in the chop. But given you are coming off a 2010 Jaime, it will seem to have way to much flex for you maybe...but you would adjust.
Reckon you need to demo these two.
Or you could just get a more modern Jaime, much better flex pattern than the one you are on. Board technology really went into overdrive after 2011.... you will notice the difference.
But like duotones lines, their pads and straps are fckn average compared to the actual good quality of the overall product you are using. Not too sure why they keep on pushing out those rubbish lines and pads,straps.
Crazy fly pads pads and straps are simple but my favourite. Nobile ones are pretty good to. Shinn ones are just fckn weird. But apparently are pretty good now??

ps the axis limited is also a sick board and would more closely resemble your Jamie in performance. But given the crazy ass chop you have....mmmmmm, I'd have the axis Ltd before all those boards above but I like straight rails, channels and some stiffness in the flex pattern.
Well I got to ride a Flyboards 159x45 so I guess it was the small door.
**** me running sideways but I swear every inch of that heel side edge went straight into causing my back thigh to burn and probably caused internal bleeding.
Maybe it means you can get away with a smaller board, but it felt very locked in and very heavy. My 170x50 Flydoor is a nicer, easier ride but that 10cm fin in the center of the heel side wedge means I can ride the board almost flat and not blow or my legs.
Channels clearly make a better board, straight edges do not. Pending a ride on a proper sized board...
Axis Ltd is definitely worth a demo, I've owned the bronq but just bought a Core fusion 3 which is amazing in chop, but may be too soft for your liking
