It was windy enough at Leighton, Rotto would have been absolutely Honking!!!.
Interesting wind direction too, would have opened up some pretty rare spots to kite in.
it's definitely not a typical wind for us here but it does happen every so often. When a big front first hits it comes in from the nw and tends to be really strong and gusty.
Also Rottnest is 18km out from the mainland and it gets hit hard
wow brown arrows from the north ! Never seen that before... Is this typical for WA ?
No brown arrows usually come from the South
Brown arrows are usually from the North, happens a few times a year between June and August (more common in August I believe) they are always gusty frontal winds.
Conditions at Rottnest would have been horribly gusty and downright dangerous.

We get northerlies and, even nicer, NW'lies as a cold front approaches. As it approches from the SW, the front squeezes the west edge of any anticlockwise-turning high. Not full of flies and 40C like a NW'ly in NSW. For that. we wait for any easterlies in early summer...
I had work I'm sick of working when it's windy !!! This addiction is phenomenal. I'm currently thinking of doing my pilots licence just for rental of plane on days off to travel to where the wind is lol
