Was funny to hear him say on the podcast how he is the only person to have a life time ban from Seabreeze.com and he is proud of that.
Then the interviewer said "I wouldnt worry too much about that, no one reads that site anymore anyway, its too old school now"

Anyone promoting this clown should be put is the same category. He has done untold damage to kitesurfing locations in many area's and should not be supported in any way.

Have you had personal actual interaction with him? If not, keep quite.
I just find it so frustrating and annoying of so many keyboard warriors, that just love to spew hate.
I've met him once and it was an eye opening experience to say the least. I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but frankly he is the most passionate kite surfer I've ever met.
Friendly, good with a yarn and always ALWAYS willing to help others learn the sport.
Unfortunately we have deep pocket goodie-two-shoes that think their money is worth more than gold, open up shops and take over the joint as if they own the beach! He and I both hate that nepotism crap - and yeah we'll be in your faces if you think the beach is a commercial enterprise.

Hey mate, as the host of the podcast, I like to give people a platform to share their stories or promote themselves.

"Anyone promoting this clown should be put is the same category" - what category is that?

I think a good story needs to have; Characters, Conflict, Resolution. I asked Alex to com on the show for the first 2 reasons and after talking to him I think he did a pretty good job of explaining himself.

I don't regret having him on at all, I do regret saying Seabreeze was old school (that wasn't fair) and a mistake on my side.

Firstly, I hope you listened to the podast and Im happy to explain my position on this in a DM.

I never met Alex but I did find the podcast quite fascinating both for his eccentric / rebellious / anti-establishment / innovative thought processes and first hand storytelling about the early days of kitesurfing in this country.

Agree with him or not, one thing that comes across very clearly is is that he is absolutely passionate about our beloved sport and teaching others to bring them the same joy pathway, and that makes him a true kite brother, right?

Good job on getting a variety of people on the podcast. Listening to pro kiters talk about their handle passes gets boring after a while.

Any guy that gets deported from Sri Lanka by the kite schools for teaching the locals for free, gets a tick.

Outspoken international gypsy in the sport, who has introduced more than most to powerkites..
So who is Australia's 1st kiteboarder (water based)? Matt Colefax (Wipika), Alex Sanz, or any other contenders?
Seems it surfaced round 97/98 here, maybe with inflatables arriving

Yes, I have. He is responsible for kites being banned in one of our local areas and lots of trouble with the council.
Alex is full of stoke and can be positive in some ways. He neglects to respect local rules of councils or show any respect for other people in public places who are not interested in kites. This has gotten him in trouble in many other areas.

There has always been an inherent problem with the promotion of kitesurfing (whether by business or by a maverick). And it is that they invite more and more people to share a cake which never gets bigger.

The solution...?

I think I'm the guy he met in Byron with the Wipika inflatable that he mentions in the podcast. He was parked up at the main car park in front of Shipwrecks and he had these half roller blade things, 1 under each foot, and he was cruising in circles around the parking lot. His camper van was a big 4x4 unit. He had a foil type of kite (with handles, not a bar), and the craziest thing was he didn't have a proper board - he had the straps drilled into a piece of wood roughly shaped into a board. No fins. He'd kite it over the sand into the water and back out over the sand. Say what you like about him but he charged pretty hard, had his own opinions on things and pioneered the sport. No idea why he is banned here.
