Hi just rode my home built board for the first time and it's all good so far it took a fair bit of work but I enjoyed the build and are happy with the outcome.
The board is 1100mm X 460 and about 55mm thick at the thickest point .made out of Paulownia and a little cedar .I watched some uTube videos of hollow wood surfboard builds to get some ideas and hope to make more in the future learning from this one. The deck grip is just temporary as I'm waiting for some to arrive.
Good job man. I'm building some control bars at the moment and I want to do a pocket board after that. Have you got some photos of the hollowed sections before you joined them together?
That is REALLY beautiful dude, nice work! Always love seeing a decent self build....very inspiring. How much does it weigh?
So it weighs 3.4 kg before straps and grip .it's not glassed just marine varnish 4 coats and sanded between coats .probably not a bad idea to glass as then you could cut more wood out ,like make the walls thinner .it would make it more durable.
The plug thing is a breather let's let in and out when screwed in .screwed out there is a small hole to the cavity
Took the wood board for a decent spin yesterday now with deck grip.foiling foot swaps so much easier than on my old board I think due to shorter stance .also happy with the shape and rocker as touchdowns feel fine.shorter stance don't feel so good over 20knotts
