Very interesting topic.Pulley maintenance.
So lots of kites have pulleys which need maintenance.
Fresh water after usage is necessary, otherwise salt build up will eventually seize the pulley roller causing kites to fly not at 100%
Have various kite brands with pulleys and only a handful of brands without pulleys or direct connection to the leading edge.eg ozone,SS,Switch
Besides cleaning in fresh water.
What about a silicone base spray for pulleys for lubrication or ?
Not meant to bash any brands.

In my experience pulleys need no maintenance as such. No washing or lubricating is necessary.

At the start of the session when rigging just pinch a loop of bridle line aroundeachpulley and work it back and forth to make sure there's no build up of sand.

You might want to watch the sides of the roller to make sure the gap is not too big. It's possible for a thin bridle line to get jammed down the side. I think that happened to my kite in 2003. It's nice that you can fly a foil kite back to the beach on just the A's and brake lines.

Thanks Gorgo great hint. Will definitely do that if I not frothing to hit the water.:)Usually check mine from time to time.

I keep a bar attached to each Peak 4 and after each session, fresh water rinse bar and line up to and including pulleys. I never worry about the pulley during setup and launch and it has never been an issue.

So, for me rinse but don't lubricate pulleys.

I second that
Never had a problem with Flysurfer pulleys when I use the kite frequently. But when the kite hasn't been used for a while, the salt and sand can dry into a crust which can lock up a pulley. but fresh water or even salt water at the beach, will dissolve the salt and the pulley will work as new in my experience.

So rinsing pulleys after use in fresh water works the best.Have tried a silicon based spray or a lanolin base spray when a pulley was totally seized just to get it freed up ,but generally found lubricate just made the sand stick to it and made it harder to rinse.

Anyone tried the 11m or 13m PeaK4 in under 10 knots and can provide a review?

I would be looking at a Soul instead of Peak in that size. I am 82 kilos and am on a 5 mt Peak at 8 to 10 knots. If you want to ride those conditions regularly and want a kite that size I don't think the Peak will have much of an advantage. Willing to hear what others have to say on this though.

I like the Peak4 because it will fly in 3 knots and that means if the wind drops then the kite will allow me to body drag into shore. The Peak4 also launches very easily I have an 8m Peak4 but struggle to waterstart on my 1325cm foil I am 78kg so I was hoping someone has some experience with the 11m or 13m Peak4

I don't have any experience on the 11 or 13 but at 90kg and using an 1100ish (680 Axis) wing and a 4'5 strapless board I didn't really have much trouble getting going in around 10knots or less today on my second go of the 8mtr.
I did have to back loop the kite most times to get going though.

How good are these kites.

I've just used the Peak 4 5m four times in varying wind strengths and can say that this kite is brilliant for foiling. It is very user friendly and packs an enormous punch. I am 97kg and had a great foiling session in 12 knot winds. I could not believe the power and efficiency of this kite.

I'm 95kgs and also had a quick sesh on Sunday on my 8 with an Axis 680. Water starts required a loop but otherwise was well powered for riding. ( Couldn't get the 5 going hence the walk to the car, kite swap and attempt 2. )

Hi guys, I need to add a kite to my quiver for foiling between 15 and 20 knots. Is the Peak4 in 4m/5m the best option? Im 85kg and use a big Low Aspect ratio wing (Cabrinha Hi:Rise Lift)
Thanks in advance for your advises

Agree with Darren. I'm 95kg on ride a 5m Peak 4 on a 950cm2 wing between 13 and 18kts.

Hey Peak frothers

Flysurfer is asking what the next sizes should be!!

www.surveymonkey.de/r/win-a-peak

Win a kite and bar too.

I have had 5 awesome sessions in a row with my 5m. It's been fantastic on the low end paired with Axis 820 surf wing (big daddy wing). I had a great light wind session on Monday in 8-12kts according to the graph. The 5m is nearly enough for a light wind kite alone, and I'm 95kgs. The flat bottom dip below is 8kts, the lull at the end of my session about 6kts.

I tried the 8m peak and felt it was too slow and didn't make much more power than the 5.

I nominated 7 & 9 as the sizes I'd most like to see, I reckon 7 could be perfect if they make it fly closer to the 5m. I would have chosen 6m if that was an option. Let me know what you nominated.

Anyway enjoy and good luck winning a 3m peak and connect bar would be nice...

I'll be interested when the current hype is continued into an easily relaunchable kite with way less bridle lines.

The 3m is an awesome little weapon on a foil with a windy day and nice swells. Drift is amazing.

My favourite out of 3, 4 and 5.

The 5m is very nice but I have only used it a few times and in wind that is too dodgy and light which means I have to be extra careful in turns to not get slack lines. Not the fault of the kite.

just on 22m lines so far.

Have used the 5m on 18m lines and much preferred that length for it.

Hey KB
Thanks for the link.
I am 103kgs and as you mentioned the P4-5m I used 24mtr lines including bridle is amazing light to moderate weapon with a good size front wing.633moses on a Carbonco 120 Vape.
Will try 20m lines next session.
Have the P4-8m also really liked it in sub 10kts but needed 20m lines or shorter to speed it up.
6-7-9m would be awesome. I am blown away how light and drifty they feel.

The hype is real

To be honest once you've got used to systematically packing away the bridle lines and unpacking them in reverse, (very quick and easy), the bridles are a non issue. If your beach is full of rubbish you may get the occasional stick in your bridle if you're not careful.
The bridles on a Peak4 are about as simple as they come for a bridled kite, and with a setup and pack down time way faster than any other kite it's really an advantage not an issue.

As for water relaunching, mine rarely hit the water, but when they have I've been surprised how most of the time I can relaunch quite easily. I'd say with a bit of practice, and as long as there's wind, relaunching is not a significant issue. Mind you I've not followed my own advice and haven't practiced in preparation for a crash. But still managed to relaunch most of the time anyway

I was very wary of mine for those reasons. I have a bunch of other kites I can choose in the same wind range. I shied away for a while. But the more I fly it the more I'm excited to choose it over others.

Just bought an 8m Peak4 for those very light days. Can anyone tell me what the tiny stainless rings on the bridle-to-flying lines attachment point are for?
And how to attach a regular set of lines (steering line loops and power lines knots), given that there are tiny rings on the ends of the power lines?

Use the steering line rings like a knot. Do a larks head on you bar like you normally would, slide it over the ring and you are good to go. As for your middle lines the ring acts the same as a normal loop.

Those little rings allow the front lines and back lines to be either loops or knots making the kite flyable on any lines connectors. Quite clever really

Hello there.
I'm new on the forum but was reading it few years already ??
I've got a question about peak.
Recently I'm made diy 3d printed wings for Moses kite fuselage. Shaped like onda with h105 profile. Bit thicker so they go out bit earlier than onda. Since few sessions on them i just love them more and more every time now.
I'm riding on soul 10 and 15. Many times on my spot winds are from around 4 to 10knts with averanging 6 7knts. Yesterday i have first low end day trying to what this wings and soul 15 are capable of and what I'm find out soon as is around 5knts plus and soul don't drop from zenith then i can easily downloop and water start. I'm around 95kg. With soul 10 it's around 8knts to waterstart. But these wings fly so nice, they can be pumped a bit so I'm really consider to sell my 15m soul and buy 2 peaks. One needs to be for that really sub 10knts day and other for over 20knts. When 10 to 20 I'm on my soul 10 with is a my nearly one kite quiver for past 2 years.
So really was thinking about 11m peak for replace my 15 soul and 4m for over 20knts.
I like to ride overpowered so that's no problem for me. For example on 10m soul my sweet spot is around 25knts and race wings for boosting, but after making thease wings I'm find out i have a lot of fun just riding slower catch small waves turns etc. I know that peak is much worst upwind etc than soul and I'm aware of that.
So really looking what size can replace my soul 15?
Cheers!

Given that the peak 4 thread on kite forum is up to almost 140 pages (I can't recall that much discussion of any 1 kite or board ever), I'm sure flysurfer are well aware of what's driving all the sales of this kite. The big question for them is how they can improve it for water use without losing the qualities that make so many foilers take the relaunch risk.

As I linked above they're asking what the next size/s P4s should be. My guess would be that these will still be for peak 4 not Peak 5, and the P5 will be something they take their time with and get spot on.

The peak 5 may end up something like the gin maribou, but hopefully not at a similar price which is nearly twice that of a Peak 4.

I haven't heard any rumours.

Hi Bodziobsz.

I haven't tried the 11m & 13m Peak4 kites, however the feedback I have from other users would indicate that for your weight, with the wind only 4 to 10 knots, the 13m Peak4 would be the best choice. It's partly dependent on your foil what windspeed you'll get up on the foil on, but the main issue in light wind is getting yourself out of the water and up onto the board/foil.
I think with 95kg in light wind you'll need the 13m Peak4 to pull you up.

For over 20 knots the 4m Peak4 should be great fun

Of course after trying one Peak4 you'll be wanting the wide wind range of the 5m Peak4 to fill that 10knots to 20 knots gap ...

I haven't heard of a replacement for the Peak4 from Flysurfer. They don't usually let anyone know until they have a finished product however.

One factor which may influence when a Peak4 replacement becomes available may be when the current demand for the Peak4 is matched by the ability to manufacture enough Peak4 kites!
I think Flysurfer has been flat out making enough Peak4 kites to supply the global demand for these kites for a while now. Constant positive feedback on these kites is no doubt keeping up the demand
I know virtually every time I have a surf foiler try a Peak4 they are just amazed by how they work and how easy they are to fly.

However I'm sure Flysurfer is working on something to keep us interested in their products. The fact that the Peak4 was designed as a snow kite but happened to be a fantastic and low cost kite for surf foils is just one of those freakishly good things that happen in life. But I must give credit to Horst Sergio on kiteforum who first started the Peak4 thread by trying a 3m Peak4 kite on his monofoil and loving it. If I hadn't read that thread I doubt I would have tried foiling with a Peak4. I'm a long way from the snow...
