Just stumbled upon this on YouTube.
Flash Austin is well known to the guys who've been kiting since the late 90's. Maybe not so to those who started after 2005ish. He was smooth, he strange, he wore pants, he rode stacker foils... Now he's bringing back the kite wing.

Will it become a thing? Or is Flash still just the weird guy?

Guaranteed that's the result of a drunk bet!

Who would want to waste a day of twin tip worthy conditions to play on a SUP? Thats like the videos of the guys messing around on planks of wood. It works but you only do it once - and even then only if you have someone to film you

Agreed! Totally possible but I don't see any advantage over kiting or windsurfing

I don't know... That part where he turns into a small swell and grabs the kite by the edge resulting in complete depower and freedom. You can never completely depower a kite. I could see the potential for surfing if the wind was stronger, and the kite smaller. I think it has potential.

They can luff/totally depower the sail when windsurfing. As I had said it's doable but I don't see any advantage over kiting or windsurfing, also in this video he has started using a sup, I am unsure if it would be possible to water start on a low volume board

Looked windy but he still had barely enough power to get going ...without being able to sine to generate power you need a bigger wing
Any bigger than what he had and the wing gets too heavy to manoeuvre efficiently
