I was out foiling for a couple of hours yesterday. Wind was sitting between 15 and 20kts and I was having a ball on my 6m Catalyst. Comfortably powered, easy relaunch and not too much chop. At 81kg, I think this is probably my favourite combo of wind strength and kite size for foiling at the moment. What's your fave combo of wind and kite on the foil?

Love the 12 - 15 knots when the water is basicly glass and your zipping around at double the wind speed thats when its perfect

No swell 15-20 8m is awesome for powered carving.

Clean swell, 20-25 on the 6m or 25-30 on the 4m.

10 knots with a 10 Reo offer the really smooth glassy feel, plus there is no one on the water and you don't have to look over your shoulder when busting out a gybe or a 360 upwind carve. However, 22+ knots with a 4 Uno is just so much fun.

15 to 20 plus one/two foot swell or 8 to 30 on a lake ....... ridiculous fun.

It's like asking which of your children you love the most (That's easy. None of the little ****s.)

Big kite. Light wind. Glass. Slicing along in perfect trim. Pure joy. Maybe stomp the back foot and blast upwind if the wind picks up.

Medium sized kite. A bit more wind. Still relatively smooth water. Slicing along. Carving gybes. Pulling off the occasional 360. Not getting spanked. More pure joy.

Smaller kite. Powered up. Carving hard and boosting off waves. Rarrrr! What a hoot!

Tiny kite. Big wind swell. S-turns on big waves. Dropping in to a stand up face. OMG!!!!! Ooooh. I made it. Yeeharrr!

PS The windsurfers have a thread on what song you sing when sailing. When I'm setting up I hum The Girl From Ipanema. In my head it sounds like lift music and it makes me smile as a I connect stuff and head to the water.

When riding I often end up with arms outstretched in the "Jesus" position. I can't help but let out a yell, and sometimes its show tune noises, or "The hills are alive with the sound of muuuuuusssssiiccccc."

Girl from Ipanema and The hills are alive? You should give Immigrant Song and Jesus Christ Pose a crack.

Hahaha. I too assume the Jesus Christ post on occasions. I can say I've ever sung the sound of music! You might want to go to a doctor and get that checked out!!!! Haha.

But I'm prone prone to fist pumping the air and screeming out a "whoot" or "chahoooooo".

When conditions are real crazy. Usually not hf conditions, monster waved and big wind. I quite like to have battle with mother nature on those days Ill get all sweary and abusive.

When I jump over a monster piece of white wash ill yell out "take that, take it mother farker!"

When I'm riding a massive wave ill do the fingers to the monster churning next to me! Taunting it to get me.

Just when I think I've owned the conditions and ridden like a legend mother nature will reach out and bitch slap me to show me whose boss!
