I randomly picked Valley Uprising as a documentary to watch a few weeks back (purely random is the best way to select documentaries by the way) and it was excellent. Will watch again.

Don't watch if you have a big television, and a fear of heights.

It's not a sport but as a diver this sort of blows my hair back. Sponge divers and pearl shell divers and mainly abalone divers all are the hardest extreme sportsmen ever.

sponge divers cause of the depth and time, heaps of them died in the early days just pressurised and drowned.

pearl diving nowadays is pretty tame but on the luggers in the old days they lost men every day.

abalone diving balls of steel big swell, caves, gnarly ground.... and big bags of teeth

The Red Bull Rampage from Virgin Utah, they are setting it up right now for this weekend's 2018 competition. Total hair ball no guts no glory insanity, literally risking life and limb for a trophy. I've been there, those walls are almost straight up and down, it's right next door to Zion Canyon for anybody who's been there. Crazy! The vid is from 2012, but now days they are starting from much higher on the freaking canyon walls. Streaming will be available starting Friday www.redbull.com/us-en/events/rampage

there was a movie a few years ago and they had to hold their breath to turn the valve on the submarine off. I always hold my breath in those movie scenes to see if I would be a survivor.
theres one scene I think in x men and they fill the room with water I wouldn't of survived that. But I would of survived the submarine movie and also the one with the rock in it where they get to the submarine.
I wouldn't however come close to surviving this freedive

Theres extreme and then theres just plain callous disregard for safety or laziness in earning a notmal living so u do stuff u shouldn't on a GoPro. Are triple somersolts on a dirt bike, wingsuitingclose to walls or climbing a crazy wall without a rope something we should be admiring when the consequence is quadraplegia or death? At some point ur just a click bait tool (like those high rise people that hang with one arm) whats next extreme videos of pitting your dick super close into a mincer or your hand in a blender!
I bet the part two vids which document the quardraplegia etc arent watched so much
(Mainly commenting on the dirt bike video world)

Sounds like you just described kiting, I've got two friends in wheel chairs for life because of that sport.
Edit* I take that back, one of them died about a year ago due to pneumonia, common if you're restricted to a wheel chair.
I'll stick with windsurfing in the ocean, that's dangerous enough.

Serious? How. I used to.do both. I think kiting was dangerous because you were tempted to do it in very shallow water. But i did hurt myself more kiting than windsurfing

Well I watched the Red Bull Rampage yesterday, it was insanely good, nobody died, nobody got carted away, which I think is amazing in itself.
I'm pretty sure a replay is available or at least the highlights online.
Oh, and Mavericks big wave contest opening ceremonies were today, that along with the Aloha Classic from Ho'okipa opening ceremonies tomorrow, should make this an interesting week for us mere mortals.

Over central NSW;

All went well as the balloon drifted upwards until they reached 7,300m, when all four of the balloon's burners suddenly flamed out.
At the same time, Tomas and Steve's oxygen masks began to leak.
Trying to make the best of a progressively bad situation, Steve yelled at Marc to jump: "Go, just go. You need to go."
There was no ceremonial goodbye, no good luck gesture. Marc just jumped.

Then put school boy rugby in the extreme sport category - four cases of para- / quadraplegia in SE Qld this winter alone.
