Just on the off chance anyone out there has been over the Gibb River Road in the last fortnight or so...is it in reasonable condition wrt corrugations? (realise this could be a "how long is a piece of string" question because it depends on what you are used to, but has it been fully graded this season and not turned to cr@p yet?)
Also, anyone been into Mitchell Falls recently, does it still have enough water flowing over it to justify the drive in?
Cheers
My son is up there now, did Mitchell falls last two days, looking at the spot device tracker Mitchell plateau road may be a bit slow going. If I hear from him I will quiz him.
Thanks, yeah the road in definitely looks slow going, we're trying to decide how far to go before ditching the van. Also, chatting to some folks on the road there is mixed feeling about whether it's worth making the trek all the way into falls at the moment as water flow reduces as wet season fades.
Cheers
Wiki Camps is your friend for recent comments on Mitchell Falls and other places. I just had a look at the comments; didn't suggest any complaints about waterflow from recent comments. We travelled there about this time 4 years ago and couldn't believe how awesome that whole area was to visit. The Kimberley's have had a big wet season so would expect the waterflow to be pretty good. Road from King George to Mitchell falls (~86km) according to WikiCamps is about 2.25hrs which is about par for course (20-40kmh). It's rough and I wouldn't take in a big van but doable. Mitchell falls is a must not miss in my opinion. Safe travels you lucky ...
Thanks for the replies.
Yeah was thinking all good but then heard the mechanic/repair in Kununurra had both trucks down that way picking up vehicles that couldn't make it back....
Anyways, off to El Questro tomorrow. :)
Cheers all.
