Core strays from the ol' white and yellow

Since Core kites hit the shelves of Australia kite stores back in 2008, the brand has always been a little different. One colour scheme, one control system, two models, bi-yearly releases and it wasn't until very recently they released a line of boards with the Core branding.

Maybe they hired a new marketing guy, or maybe the piles of emails asking for different colour schemes were filling up hard drives, because this week Core announced their 'Specialized' line of equipment for 2016, bringing their range more akin with the rest of the kite companies in the world.

"CORE Specialized. Brought to you by the makers of the best selling all-rounders, the GTS3 and XR4. And now, purveyors of niche products for the select few."

Black coloured kites, of course still with a little yellow and white, are in the lineup, looking incredibly edgy in comparison to Core's usual affair. A wakestyle board called the 'Bolt' (not to be confused with Naish's Bolt), we're being told is not just a typical wakestyle board, it's designed only for the purest of wakestyle rider. Two new kites, the Section and Impact are also for the niche market only.

For wave riders, the Section offers a dedicated solution to down-the-line riding, where in the past Core has marketed their freestyle performance kite the GTS as a 'wave' kite. This new Section looks more like the other brands wave kites, with a lot aspect ratio, highly swept leading edge and boxy tips for quick turns. Then there's the Impact, a freestyle thoroughbred with no compromises for intermediate level riders, just performance. No bridals, no relaunch-friendly traits, it's a C kite and it's bad ass.

Of course most brands already have specialized lines of products for individual disciplines. Take the Airush Razor and Wave, Slingshot Fuel and Wave SST, Ozone's C4 and Reo etc, the list goes on and on, with more than just two colour schemes too.

Check out the new Specialized range from Core kites on their website for more information, or drop in to your local Core retailer.
