5 Tips to Spice up your Kite Session this Summer.

"New equipment is a great motivator to go kiteboarding. Try a surfboard, or a wake skate. Maybe even a hydrofoil!"

Have you ever been put kiteboarding, and thought, you know what? I'm tired of this board, if only there was something more fun to ride! Cabrinha riders Damien LeRoy and Evan Netsch have, so before their next session they dropped by the local department store to see what they could find. Two inflatable whales ended up in their shopping trolleys, and a short while later the fun began. Riding the whales was easier said than done, with their slippery exterior and no decent method to ride them, the session was basically made up of hilarious crashes and huge airs, with transfers from twin tip to inflatable whale. Check out the video of their session below, and if you need something to spice up your kiting this summer, here's five great ideas for you! Learn a new trick. It's easy to get stuck in a rut once you reach a competent level on the water. Learning a new trick gets you crashing again (because sometimes crashing is fun!). We recommend learning the 'Underloop Transition' if you know how to turn around normally. It's great fun, and easy to master! Make a new friend. Introduce yourself to someone new on the beach for an extra boost of enthusiasm. New kiteboarders are always keen to get on the water, so give them your number and ask if they can text you when they're heading out next. Meet up and learn some new moves together! Change your gear. New equipment is a great motivator to go kiteboarding. Try a surfboard, or a wake skate. Maybe even a hydrofoil! The options with kiteboarding gear are varied and range in skill levels required, so drop by your local store and ask for their advice. Or head for K-Mart, and buy an inflatable toy. I hear they have giant white swans on sale right now! Explore your local area. Grab some mates and go exploring, either by kite or on google maps! Look for your new favourite kiting spot from above, and you might be surprised with what secret sandbars lie just around the corner. Or simply stuff a few snacks in your pocket and go for an up winder. Once you get tired, enjoy the downwinder back to your car. Try instructing. If you've ever thought about teaching someone to kiteboard, then drop by your local school and have a chat with them about shadowing some kite lessons. Learn the art of teaching the best sport in the world from the most experienced instructors in your local area, or attend an IKO instructors course.
